When eye tracking technology is implemented into every new smartphone and tablet on the market, it is possible to analyze what millions of people look at when they browse or use their apps. What catches their attention? How long do they spend on each item? Do they see ads that are displayed or not?
Based on this information it is potentially possible to change the content in apps and the placement of ads in real-time, to target the content to the user more accurately. And instead of impressions and clicks, you could measure actual views.
