Medication non-adherence is a $300 billion problem. Over 25% of patients never pick up their initial fill. Of the others, 80% are not refilled as indicated. What tools can we leverage as an industry to be change agents to solve this complex problem - mHealth, devices, patient engagement, alerts? Using the EMR channel to communicate brand messaging, payor preferences,capture adherence data, and measure impact! What factors affect behavior most - financial, behavioral, educational? Who is in the best position to influence patient compliance - physician, pharmacist, family member, care team? All ideas welcome!
