Empathy (should) kill the demographic star
I recently wrote a blog on LinkedIn about the future being neither male nor female - but rather, HUMAN. We have become so obsessed with demographics, and so use to putting people in boxes & on scorecards. I would argue that this has created new forms of exclusion, rather than true inclusion. That's why many of us may at times feel too male, too old, too feminine, too young. Overcoming this will require an investment in true empathy - understanding individuals rather than demographic averages. Many might say this is a naive and unattainable ideal. I say it is increasingly becoming a leadership imperative towards true diversity, inclusion & growth potential.
