We invited Ryan Holiday, bestselling author of Growth Hacker Marketing, to South Africa to host a masterclass on the topic. Ryan's campaigns have been used as case studies by Twitter, YouTube, and Google and written about in the New York Times, Fast Company, etc., so based on his commitment to guide us through the process, we decided to only use Growth Hacker Marketing in promoting our event.
On the 12th of September, BrainFarm achieved a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title by partnering with South African Artist, Percy Maimela, in producing the world's largest coffee grounds mosaic of DJ Black Coffee as part of the Growth Hacker Marketing campaign behind our event. The coffee that we used had expired, and the activation space sponsored, so although this formed a small part of our ongoing campaign, it highlighted the fact that it is possible to generate massive publicity and social media buzz regardless of budget.
